Week 1 Sees Mixture of Old and New

Team Name Rankings for Week 1
Ebonic Plague – Although getting a bit long in tooth, it has nearly everything you’re looking for in a name, it’s fairly short, it’s a play on words, and it allows for Oakland / ghetto-based story lines and slang.
Roughed up Suspects – The league newcomer comes in with a solid first year effort. Good length and allows for interrogation humor.
Sewage Serpents – After a few misses, the franchise came up with a good plumbing-related team name. An animal in the team name lends itself to mascot themes.
Gein’s Spleens – Any name that incorporates both a serial killer’s name and a digestive organ is going to be a player, but isn’t that almost pandering to the judges?
Lay Z Boy – Like the Ebs, the team name has been around for a while, but the original reclining chair, hood-spelling vibe is still intact.
Bar Stoole Buddies – The misspelling of stool notwithstanding, the Buds come back for another year of potential bar / alcohol game plots.
Injury Prone – Stayed with the name last year and won the Souper Bowl, but superstition issues remain.
Catholic Nun and the Posse – Still too long, but at least is good for papal humor.
Brittle Bones Battalion – While moderately clever, a bit too long and difficult to say.
GerfluchtWeasels – Having used every English variation of weasel team names, the franchise has resorted to using German prefixes.
New Kids on the Block – If you are going to just use a band name, how about one that is not horrible?
TDS Telecom – Oh boy, more phone related humor. Can it get any dryer?
