Jesse Wentland - Motocross
Jesse is another rider who did well as an amateur in District 23 and had a long history of competing at Loretta Lynn’s. Never on a big name team as a pro,
he was always hustling for sponsorship to keep the dream going. He also raced in the Canadian Motocross series a few years, with several wins and
other top finishes.

Yearly Recap
2012 – After
winning Open Pro Sport and taking 2nd in 450A at
Loretta Lynn’s, he raced a
450 Motocross national at Unadilla,
finishing with a pair of 19ths for
20th overall.
2013 – Jesse had a tough go of it in the
250 East Supercross series, unable to put his
KTM in any Mains, despite coming tantalizing close several times.
Competing in the seven “East” rounds in
250 Motocross, Jesse was a privateer in a class with many powerful teams. He finished in the points many times
with a season-best
15th at Red Bud, and was 27th overall in the championship.
2014 – Now armed with a
Honda, the brand he would ride for the rest of his career, Jesse again competed in the
250 East Supercross series. Despite missing nearly half the rounds, he ended up 20th in the points,
with a season best
11th at Atlanta. He then spent the summer racing the
Canadian Motocross series.
2015 - After missing the Supercross season recovering from injury, Jesse attacked the nationals as close to a
full-on privateer as is possible these days.
He became a regular top-twenty finisher in a stacked
450 Motocross field, with a season high
12th at Millville. He faltered a bit down the stretch,
but still finished
21st in the championship.
2016 – Racing the
250 East Supercross series with light sponsorship, Wentland was having a great series, finishing a
career-best 5th place in
Toronto, and solidly in the top ten. Unfortunately, he was injured in the following round and missed the rest of the series. Despite competing in only 4
of the 9 rounds, he still finished
19th in the series.
After this strong season in SX, Jesse still was not on a major team but still set out to race
450 Motocross. He started out a bit slow, but then
started to string together some good finishes, with a 12-14 at Millville and 14-14 at Washougal. Unfortunately his broke his collarbone at the next round
and missed the rest of the season, placing 26th in the series.
2017 – Jesse raced the
250 East Supercross series, making the Main in every round but Vegas. His best finish was
11th at Minneapolis and
Saint Louis, on his way to
13th in the championship.
He did not compete in any rounds of the AMA Motocross series, although he scored a few
top finishes in the Canadian Motocross circuit.
No formal announcement was made, but he is
presumed retired from AMA competition as of 2018.
